Exposure to phenoxyacetic acids, chlorophenols, or organic solvents in relation to histopathology, stage, and anatomical localization of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
Results on 105 cases with histopathologically confirmed non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) and 335 controls from a previously published case-control study on malignant lymphoma are presented together with some extended analyses. No occupation was a risk factor for NHL. Exposure to phenoxyacetic acids yielded, in the univariate analysis, an odds ratio of 5.5 with a 95% confidence interval of 2.7-11. M...
متن کاملSoft tissue sarcomas: pattern diagnosis or entity?
Soft tissue sarcomas (STS) are a diverse and heterogeneous group of tumours. The sub-classification of these tumours is of importance for both prognosis and treatment. Classically, sub-categorization is based purely on histomorphological grounds, but as new techniques evolve, a more conclusive and accurate diagnosis can be made. This study describes the prevalence of soft tissue sarcomas in adu...
متن کاملExposure to Agent Orange and occurrence of soft-tissue sarcomas or non-Hodgkin lymphomas: an ongoing study in Vietnam.
Agent Orange was the most common herbicide used in the Second Indochina War in the course of military operations in the former South Vietnam. Agent Orange is contaminated by the carcinogen 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-para-dioxin (TCDD) in mean concentrations of 2 mg/kg. After much dispute of a causal association between exposure to herbicides containing TCDD and occurrence of soft-tissue sarcoma...
متن کاملSoft Tissue Sarcomas
Soft tissue sarcomas are a heterogeneous group of malignant neoplasms of mesenchymal origin. They account for approximately 1% of all cancer diagnoses and 7% of pediatric malignancies (1,2). Just over half of these patients eventually succumb as a result of the disease. Soft tissue sarcomas typically present as asymptomatic large masses within the retroperitoneum or the proximal lower limbs but...

This article discusses the epidemiology, diagnosis, and management of primary soft-tissue sarcomas (STS). These musculoskeletal tumors are a rare and heterogeneous group of malignancies, which are best managed by multidisciplinary teams in specialist sarcoma referral centers. Historically, the standard for local control of these tumors has been amputation. Evolutions in multimodality treatment ...
